Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) is an evidenced-based therapeutic approach that is targeted towards people who exhibit excessive self-control. Over-control core deficits include a lack of receptivity and openness, flexibility in responding, emotional awareness, and social connection, all of which lead to emotional loneliness. This approach teaches openness and social signaling to aid in building connections with others. Particular disorders that this treatment has shown efficacy for include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Treatment Resistant Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Anorexia Nervosa. Treatment involves both weekly individual sessions and group sessions.
